Changing the UI of the SMI

Overview

In Silva it is possible to change the look and feel of the SMI so that it better suites the users preferences. Before making these changes, best is to consult the users of the CMS to verify that they feel comfortable with the proposed SMI changes.

Service configuration

Go into the ZMI.
Go to the Services tab.
Click on "service_ui (Silva UI Service)" (Fig. 1.).

UI Generic settings

The settings in this tab allows you to brand your company style into the SMI.

This tab allows you to change:

  • Site name
  • Logo above the left navigation
  • Background color of the SMI
  • Public site URL
  • Preview site URL
  • SMI access Silva root
  • Maintenance UI message

Site name

Allows you to change the required name of your Silva site.

Allows you to change the logo of your Silva site. By default this is the Green Silva logo with "SILVA" on the right.

Background color of the SMI

Allows you to change the background color. By default this is the gray blue background. Fill in a hexadcimal color code to change this color.

Public site URL

Allows you to set the Public site URL that is used when clicking the View action in the top right corner of the SMI.

Preview site URL

This allows you to set the Preview URL that is used when clicking the Preview action in the top right corner of the SMI. As authentication is required for this action, users must be able to authenticate on this site URL.

Preview can ve changed to different resolutions

When enabled editors can resize the preview to a set of defined resolutions.

Set of resolutions from which editors can choose to preview.

SMI access Silva root

When enabled you can edit the content in the Silva root itself of the virtual host root. By default you would edit the content in the current virtual root.

Maintenance UI message

In here you can put HTML which will get rendered when users try to access the SMI. This text could explain that editing content is temporarily disabled for maintenance reasons (or other reasons).

UI Folder settings

This tab allows you to enable/disable the following behavior:

  • Clicking on the icon goes to the content/edit view
  • Enable content preview when hovering over the icon
  • Clicking on the identifier goes to the content/edit view
  • Clicking on the title shows the preview
  • Clicking on the modification time goes to properties
  • Clicking on the author name goes to settings
  • Enable goto menu

Clicking on the icon goes to the content/edit view

When enabled clicking the icon of the content in the content listing will bring you to the edit screen of the content.

Enable content preview when hovering over the icon

When enabled hovering over the icon on the left of the content listing will bring you a preview the content. For performance reasons this option could be disabled.

Clicking on the identifier goes to the content/edit view

When enabled clicking the Identifier of the content in the content listing will bring you to the edit screen of the content.

Clicking on the title shows the preview

When enabled clicking the Title of the content in the content listing will bring you to the preview screen of the content.

Clicking on the modification time goes to properties

When enabled clicking the Modified date of the content in the content listing will bring you to the metadata screen of the content.

Clicking on the author goes to settings

When enabled clicking the Author of the content in the content listing will bring you to the publication screen of the content.

Enable goto menu

When enabled the content listing will have an extra Go to drop-down menu on the right of the listing.
